Hi Everyone,
Even with a damaged ear I love this.
I've always liked horses and it's so realistic.
Crafted from one hefty block of Pine.
I'd love to know more about it if anyone can say.
Sadly it's not signed or marked, which is a shame for such a nice carving.
Comments are always welcome.
Thank you
Thanks for the loves everyone. Nutsabotas6 and brunswick thank you for the comments and loves. Hay yay two more horse lovers :) he looks so realistic I keep petting his nose as countless others must have done before me, judging by the look of it.
Yep, gorgeous! The carver was a true artist!!!
Lol, that's cute...petting his nose! He probably had a mate and they were once used as bookends. I'm glad the previous owner didn't want them anymore, for your sake. He just needs TLC to keep from splitting more so make sure you give him plenty to drink. (orange oil polish works wonders) I feel it's best not to cut corners or try to go with the lowest cost polish when purchasing it. The wood we save is worth it to me.
That's a nice one Fran!! Beautiful carving.
Thank you Scott. I agree with you :) i really love it, it has a classical look, Greek/Roman.
Usually I see small bowls but love the wood carving. I wonder if it can be considered a piece of treen or treenware ?
Hi Phil. Hmm, I wonder too. I think of treen as small items usually without a purpose but don't know if there's a size limit for it. This doesn't have a purpose (other that look nice:) but it's pretty big, more like a wooden sculpture.
