This was an amazing find. This machine was supposedly "frozen". It simply had a snarled hook assembly because the tension was not set properly and the bobbin had been installed backwards. They got rid of it for 30 dollars! This thing was PRISTINE. The photos are the AS-RECEIVED condition. It was only slightly dusty and needed oil and tensioning. It immediately sewed like a champ, chewing through 8 layers of upholstery fabric that I'd hemmed and hemmed again to make it tougher. I always default to my Kenmores when I have basic sewing needs to do because they're strong, easy to control, and they aren't finicky like my old Bernina. They'll run the cheapest thread, the junkiest needles, and never complain. You can always finish a project using a Kenmore. I love these old beasts since they're still all-metal gears, and have 1.2 amp motors. It's why I have three of them (different sub models of the 158-series).
