Well here is something you don't see everyday (no pun intended). Just walked past a charity shop on my way back from Starbucks and these were in the window. Obviously as you can see they are in serious need of a clean. The guy behind the counter helped his brother clear out a cellar at the weekend and this is one of the things that came out. He said he could probably sell them in the shop and he had only put them out an hour before I walked past, and he said he didn't think they would be there for long.
I'm guessing that it is a salesman's sample set as all the lenses and metal nose bridge parts are different. I can't believe the whole thing has survived so well, especially the information card. Need to do some research on this one I think.

Check to see if the bridges are gold, they usually are!

These were used by opticians, the customer tried on the models for the pupillary distance and nose width and the optician ordered the appropriate one with no error because of the number engraved on each.
I suppose the optician made the right corrective lens for the mount.
More often gold filled...
