This is the second of three family trunks that came here from Hombressen, Hesse-Cassel, Germany in 1858. My great, great-grandmother, her daughter, and her son (my great-grandfather) arrived in Baltimore on 16 September 1858 on the ship, The Luna. This is a larger trunk than my first trunk that also came with GGGM. Notice the great lithograph that has been covered by fabric for possibly 40 years. I stripped away the fabric to see what I would find, and I was pleasantly surprised. Even though the rest of the paper must go, the lithograph will be preserved. If anyone has any suggestions about preserving the lithograph, I'd love to hear them.
Look for a clear matte (No Gloss) finish spray.Several light coats with time to dry between coats works well .Tape off areas that you don't want sprayed .Krylon is one manufacturer that comes to mind but there are others ,much luck!
