trunkman

Nice example of an older flat top. I put rare in the title because I do not come across many flat tops of this era. Happy to hear what other collectors have discovered.... to me it seems they made way more dome and barrel top trunks in the 80's -90's. This one has gorgeous tin work and hundreds of tacks - the back is done in the same manner as the front. This one goes to my future daughter-in-law....
(completely rusted over when I purchased it --decided not to paint but rather took off the rust with drill bit put on rust inhibitor and then gun oiled) Patent date on slat clamps read oct 77 - Taylor parts?
My gosh, how long of a process was that rust removal?
Hi eye... not too long really... about 45 mins. a side.
Took me longer to drive to pick it up than it did to refinish .. HA!
Another beauty! I like that you didn't paint it. It kind of looks like a monitor top. Love it!
Thanks so much mkh... yes I thought monitor too but certainly a-typical.
I'm glad you didn't paint it but left it with its original look Trunkman. It's an antique and looks it : )
What a beauty!! Not only is the trunk itself incredible, but the hardware and designs are wonderful!! I've never seen one of these in person, only photos.
Nice find T-man it's got a cool look.
