My brain is fried - I'm finding too many previously unknown-to-me glass makers from Japan.
This is a nicely made vase, typical baluster shape, made from white glass with a lovely opalescent sheen to it.
The inclusion of the blue/red mix stripe through the body lifts this I think, and I love that it is not perfectly level or parallel.
It has been thinly clear cased but like most Japanese glass is fairly thick so quite heavy.
I have only recently found one other Kimura Glass vase, same shape and white ground, but without the central stripe. As you might imagine, it was a bit plain for me.
Height: 22cm
This looks as if it changes a lot according to the play of light......always good in my book. Beautiful!
There are very few super-reflective pieces that I love Karen... a Kralik millefiori knuckle vase comes to mind and now yours... striking! It has a classic, simple vase shape, which I think is a perfect choice so as not to detract from the beautiful opalescence and and nicely contrasting center stripe! You know how I love your Japanese glass Karen, and this one, although a departure from your usual pieces, is just as special : )
Thanks Peggy, it's not my usual smack-in-the-face Japanese glass, but certainly beautiful. I just need some info about the maker!
Glad you like this Ken - it's very pearly. Thanks Mate.
Many thanks Rick for your constant support. I try to expose you all to the variety of Japanese glass, even when they are a miss, and I feel it is the really curious and unbiased glass collectors here that appreciate the work and appeal of Japanese glass.
Skill and beauty exist no matter who makes it, and you really get that.
I saw your comment on my last post. I'd be happy to send it to you. I have changed computers since our last exchange. I would need to get your info from you again. lmk, also I've got new email addresses too. (glassrock3 at gmx dot com)
You're welcome Karen. I know you get it that although I don't collect Japanese glass, I can appreciate and love all sorts of glass, and yours is one of them.
