I posted this before, 9 months ago, giving it another try
A cobalt/brown glazed bowl with a brass collar. Two little 'sticky out bits on the collar. Three kiln mark on the underside. 5 5/8" diameter, 2 1/2" high
I have no real clue as to age really or what it may be, although it is inkwell shape, but far to big, the glaze is beautiful, I thought Victorian
Any help would be very much appreciated
I may be way off track here, but this inkwell looks remarkably like a range of pottery I have seen for sale here in Australia, which I believe is recent Chinese, or Asian at least.
That dark brown underglaze with the gorgeous blues over the top looks the same, and the tripod kiln feet mark. It's the collar that gets me, haven't seen that.
They are beautiful pieces, but I don't know if this is from the same place.
Thank you racer4four ...disappointing to say the least ...I thought it was an oldie and a goodie. It really is lovely ..but no so lovely it its recent Chinese! I think I will sit in the corner and rock .... or suck my thumb!
Hey Lizzy, I may be wrong! It's still beautiful, no matter when or who made it.
Glaze wise I believe it might be a piece from Buergel a town in germany with a long pottery tradition. It reminds me of pieces by carl fischer.
round about 1910 to 1930 would be my guess
