When I saw this box hidden away in a corner at an estate sale I had to pick my jaw up off the floor and play it cool. All I really wanted to do was jump up and down with excitement. As a fashion collector and a paper collector for me this is like a holy grail.
The box contains mostly HollyWood starlets as well as some male stars of the time. Some of the people are Judy Garland,Lana Turner,Lucille Ball,Elizabeth Taylor,Hedy Lamar,Ava Gardner and so on.
For me the best part is all the dresses, clothes and all the accessories. The box just seems to go on and on. I have not even made a dent into finding the bottom. Any one have any suggestions on the best way to display and keep safe? Thanks for looking.
Thanks for the love Savoy:)
You are welcome. These are cool on so many different levels...history, dolls, movie stars...WOW !
I would get 3-ring binders with archival plastic sleeves. I would put a sheet of archival black paper in the sleeve and then put two dolls on each side (4 per sheet). That is assuming that the dolls are less than 11 inches.
Just happened onto your page here. Very nice! I was thinking that the picture with all your paper dolls overlaying each other would make a wonderful wall poster. You could do so many different variations and especially with all the different clothing.
Couldn't help but think of the St. Peppers Lonely Hearts band cover album. Cheers!
All I can say is "AWESOME". A fabulous find.
Thanks artrhythmic for the idea and the love. My bathroom wall is done in a collage, I used old adds from magazines. I have it posted check it out on my page.
Thanks again.
Very colorful and nostalgic . . . I think you should take pictures of all and put on a CD to keep for your own personal collection . . . keep only one for yourself and then sell all the rest for profit ! Take a nice relaxing vacation . . . LOL
Whoa, these are so much fun! What a great find.
being born in 1957 , i use to play with paperdolls , i was a much simpler time , brings back a lot of memories .thanks a beautiful collection .
Wow, quite a find there, great!
Great great find. Lucky girl
What a wonderful find! How did you end up displaying and keeping them safe? I liked the idea of the archival sleeves posted by Savoychina1. I did something like that when I rediscovered some of my old Betsy McCall paperdolls pasted into a childhood scrapbook. Don't let them sit in too much sunlight or they will faade away to nothing.
