    Hello again CW friends!!

Here are two very nice gentleman rabbit doorstops that I was able to acquire this year. I believe the first one, in the dark red coat, was made by the Albany Foundry and has the foundry name embossed into the backside of the base with the number 94. The one in the blue coat also has the number 94 on the backside of the base, but has a slightly heavier base and very slight differences from the red coat rabbit (if you study them closely enough). So, I'm still a bit puzzled by that. These both, however, measure exactly the same at 9 7/8" tall by 4 3/4" wide.

These are pretty hard to come by, so I jumped at the chance to buy these for a really decent price. They were both cast in the early 1900's. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Thanks very much for stopping in to have a look!!

    Scott

Thanks Roy!! These are two of my most prized doorstops, next to my Spencer double sided. I'll post that one someday soon.

      Judy,
Thanks! It's an extremely busy time of the year for us, but it should wind down over the next few months.

Thanks Ken!! This type of rabbit doorstop is among my favorites and some of the most highly sought after by collectors like myself.

I think the burgundy boy has faster ears - you know, windswept. I really like pairs like this that you can compare the differences. It makes their handmade-ness (new word there) more obvious and so, more appealing. Great post Scott.

      Gary,
Thanks friend!! Not a lot of doors, but a lot of trunks to store them in:)
    12. jscott0363 jscott0363, 7 years ago
      Thanks Karen!!
Most folks wouldn't even notice the slight differences. So, I'm glad it's not just me that see this. BTW, I love your new "Handmade-ness" word. I'm going to start using that one:)

Always love your posts. Along with the others, am happy to see them again. I received a small rabbit from a friend for Easter and I purchased a prim rabbit for myself at a thrift shop. In the past I've put all bunnies away after Easter. These two latest are staying on display.

Thank you so much Mary!! I really love the rabbit and hares you posted a few months back. I have a majority of my rabbits put away, but the special ones, like these, get to stay out year round.

Thanks Roddy!! Though nicely painted, I do not believe these have original paint work. But, I must say that the paint jobs were well done.
