I received this when my mother passed away. She acquired from her mother. It has hand painted Nippon on the bottom. It is about 5.5 inches tall with the lid on and about 6 inches wide. I believe it is porcelain. I'm curious to see if anyone could tell me anything about it.
I can tell you it's beautiful, in case you hadn't noticed.....lol
But I'd suggest looking up Nippon porcelain china on eBay and you will likely find plenty of information.
If I'm not mistaken, Nippon is a place.

You have a very beautiful humidor. Egyptian motifs were popular Nippon design motifs. "Nippon" was the name for Japan when the McKinley Tariff act in force from 1891 to around 1920 when the Act was repealed. At that time "Nippon" was used for Japan. (You can read more on this site under "Nippon Porcelain".) The "M" within a wreath stands for the Morimura brothers who were based in New York Baron Morimura was the founder of the Noritake company. The M is a mark is very collectible since it designates a quality piece.
