I found this recently, but I have no idea what this is, but it's a heavy metal and has a glass accent. The "rings" are movable. It's a bit dirty, I haven't cleaned it up yet.
Towel holder maybe?

Does the top piece unscrew? Could it be a support base for a Tiffany type or other heavy glass shade? ( early no cord oil lamp)
Or a display stand for something lovely that needed underpinnings for support?
Yes, the top does unscrew. I'm going to clean it up a bit and see what becomes of it. I was thinking possibly a towel holder? But what era? I sure wish it had some sort of markings.
Well I'm going to say it is an "Email me" when somebody figures it out. LOL
It does look like the face towel holders they used to make in the late 60's and early 70's for bathrooms.
They made them for bathrooms into the 80's also.
This looks WAY earlier to me. And if a towel rack--why would the top unscrew--no reason for that---still a stumper.??
Yup, a towel holder.
Does anyone know who made it or the era? It's a stumper. I'd like to clean it up but I'm not sure of the metal type and don't want to damage it. Suggestions?
Ck all the parts with a magnet to see if it is ferrous. Appears to have been plated, but I don't know what is used in the States or where you are. Somebody here probably knows.
I'm in Florida. Found it at an estate sale. I have an idea of what I'm going to use it for, but was curious the history, maker and how to properly clean it.
A magnet does stick to it.
Reminds me of antique hat display stand.
Don't use anything abrasive if there is enough plating to save & look good.
That's exactly what I was going to use it for. A hat stand for my custom and vintage hats I sell on Etsy.
I have some tarnex, brasso and mothers. Think I should start with Mothers?
This is where people who know, need to come in.
Hats sound good to me. I have never seen anything like it in all my travels searching for suiff.
Still waiting on some advice on cleaning/polishing from the experts, but I believe we've all determined it's an old towel holder?
All but me determined that--again, why then a top to unscrew?
I dunno. Maybe it was just for assembly?
I'd like to find more info but it's not really trickling in :(
