Mats Jonasson, (born 1945) is a Swedish glass designer. He is notable for his engraved lead crystal sculptures of flowers and wildlife that are manufactured by the glassworks in Målerås, Sweden and are marketed around the world.

Beautifully detailed Wren, this piece is 3" x 3" x 1 1/4", signed on the bottom with his initials, Sweden and No. 9203. The Wren on the right has just finished his dinner.

My sister's nickname was always 'Jenny-Wren'.

A big thank you to "Handpicked by Tammy" at Etsy.

Love it, the detail is so real looking, as if there is a bird trapped in ice.

Love this little bird! By the way I just found your question about the painting behind my carved Japanese desk from several months ago in my spam folder. I am very sorry that I just found it. I had previously posted the portrait but here is the info. Please see previous post for real photo of Mrs DeWitt:
Mrs. McDonald DeWitt (1881-1957 Park Avenue,NY)
I love to find interesting portraits and then research the lives of the subjects. I liked this painting because it was painted in the 1920s by Wilber Fiske Noyes. I had no idea who Mrs. McDonald Dewitt was until I researched her life. She was married to a prominent attorney in New York but it is her association with Florence Knapp (pictured to the left of Mrs. DeWitt in the third photo) that is most interesting. Mrs. DeWitt helped to organize the Republican Women of New York State.
Florence Knapp was Secretary of State of New York from 1925 to 1926, elected in 1924. In 1928, she was convicted of grand larceny in office. During the taking of New York's 1925 census, Mrs. Knapp had put her stepdaughter's name on the payroll, then received the stepdaughter's checks herself, forged the endorsements, and spent the money on clothes.
She remained the only woman elected to a statewide office in New York for fifty years.
Mrs. McDonald DeWitt, stood by her friend throughout the trial.

Oh, Gillian, that is really a precious birdie :-)
I love the pic of the living one too!

P.S. I burst of laugh to your "dirty loundry is not old" comment ;-)))))

Just gorgeous. The light is amazing through them right? And he still stands by perfection. If there is a bubble or a scratch while in the making, it goes straight to the trash! He won't allow a faulty piece to go out to the public. I love these pieces and have found quite a few. They make awesome gifts, and some I just can't part with. Have you seen his latest work? Here's an example:

but let me look for the ones I want you to see. I guess I should look at all the comments first to see if someone else linked you up!

Oh wow, I just saw this was two years ago and I did comment before, almost said the same thing too! Now you know for sure it's true ;0

I couldn't find the link I wanted, most of the ones I found do not have the https:// in front and that's very important to check every time you hit a url. Always check that so you don't get hit.

here is a safe one tho.
