This famous 1968 photograph of a combat photographer while located in Da Nang, Vietnam eating his rations from a can. The Sticker on his Helmet Reads:
"BRING 'EM BACK ALIVE" that has been changed to read
"BRING ME BACK ALIVE".
A powerful Image that has been kept alive by this 1 1/2 diameter pinback button for almost 50 years.
I added the original image that was used for the button and did some editing of the post to reflect the person shown was likely a war time photographer.
As far as I know the information above is now correct.

I was there in 68 and never happened to see this image before.
fhrjr2 1st Thank You for your service,
I tried to dig into the image deeper and so far as I can find the date and location check out but so far as I know the places I've found that say anything about it are getting there information from other posts selling the button, I was unable to find the name of the subject or the photographer who took the photo.
After seeing the photo and not just the cropped image I must think the subject was a photographer him self and not a Solider as the story of this button has always been told, live and learn.
Thanks for the comment, I like to know as much as I can about the items I post any questions and all info is much appreciated.
PoliticalPinbacks - Ihave found over the years that many of the images on these buttons were never published but I have found them in magazines like "Look" or "Life". I don't collect them but always view them and wonder about the origin.
This VN Vet has a lot of photos posted many that have info, some more then others, (link below) I wrote to him today to ask if he knows anything else about this one however no replay as of yet.
