I had been looking for a 1956 Vendo E110 for a couple years. I wanted the 56 because it was the last and only year that had the famous white top, so I had read. I found this unit on Ebay. The Id plate said it was a 1958. I negotiated a price and had it shipped. The full code is a E110L. I found another unit that sold some years ago that sold that was a 1958 as well. I plan to get it restored when I get enough pennies saved! If anyone can deceipher the Vendo codes or knows why there are some post 56 models, I would be interested to know.
Seems to be a lot of info here:

That was the first web site I found that gave the E100 production years of 1948-56. I contacted them and they said they got their information from Vendo. The site also says that the code after the model, mine is L, indicates series. The L may stand for 1958 or post 56 models. The serial number indicates that it was in the last 50 produced, according to Vendo.
I'm was looking at an E-110L today. Same date code as your's in 1958. Your's is in better shape & the one I looked at is missing the bottle opener/cap catcher. My guy wants $500....good peice or not compared to your's?
I see Funtronics has repo bottle opener and cap catcher. I think these units will go up in value because of their versatility. I like them because of no coin mech. $500 is good if rust is not too bad. If you get chance could you send me the serial number, I'm making a list of the later model E110's.
I've only seen pics as of right now, trying to set up a meeting this weekend to get a close up look at the machine. The pic shows some surface rust, hard to tell how bad it is in the pic. Hoping it is just surface rust. I will post pics if I seal the deal. The serial # is 80621039.
