Hello again,
This beautiful porcelain pot was given to me today by a dear woman at work. She thought that it had been passed down from her great grandmother, or grandmother, wasn't sure, but wants to clear things out of her house and thought I might like it. Because of it's place in her family I recommended she give it to one of her children, ( I went to school with her daughter ), but she was sure that she wanted me to have it, to keep or sell, whatever I wanted to do with it.
It's a keeper, and it's just beautiful.
I don't know anything about it. I think it's porcelain, hand built, with hand sculpted porcelain relief flowers and lovely hand painting.
Chinese?, Japanese?, Old?,......there's a mark, I hope it's familiar to some one here.
Any looks, loves, or comments welcome.
Happy Season to all,
Tony.
Sweet vase Tony...love the applied flowers. Unusual to see an impressed mark. Maybe Meiji era Satsuma of some sort. Probably had a lid as well. Check Gotheborg's porcelain site under the Japanese section and see if you can match the cartouche on the bottom. :)
THANK YOU, MIKE! That's much help to me, I'll do those searches you recommended.
Thanks to racer, mike , Adele, and aura for the looks and loves,
much appreciated!!!
Its Japanese does it have a greenish color to the glaze if so the color is celadon . If you look up Japanese Celadon you will find similar pieces. Its not satsuma maybe Arita or Imari
