This was my grandmother's, I always thought it was c. 1900 but I'm wondering if it is later. The detail is very intricate and the geometric design around the rim is different than any I've seen online. The handle design you see on Nippon but?? The lack of a mark is frustrating. Any ideas out there among you smart folks?
Nippon loosely translates to mean “JAPAN” however American Nippon collectors focus on pieces made by Noritake, and those under their umbrella, such as Morimura brothers, which are usually well marked.
Your pieces appear to be nice quality, well painted with fine details and the raised relief gold ( often referred to as moriage), so I would say they are from the early 2oth century, rather than the post-war period when they regained popularity
Thank you for your informative reply! I'd also forgotten about the term moriage.
not skilled enough
We are missing the star embedding
we got gold trailing here
the beads got an elevation , it is not complete pigment spraying
maybe they dodged the tariff act before the follow up , could make it mid taisho
full transfer or spraying is probably 30 ties, i am a rooky in this
