Charles Lotton cited Loetz as an early influence on his glassmaking - that has never been more apparent than in this piece. This is an early work of his - signed Charles Lotton 1974 - finely ground and polished pontil. It's the only Lotton piece I have seen with this highly iridescent type of "combed thread" decoration. Since I haven't been able to find another, I am just calling this one my "Lotton PG" (phänomen genre) vase. :) I contacted the Lotton Galleries, and the Lottons said that this type of decoration is called "Threaded Tribal". The silver threads are made with amber and selenium red before being treated with Mr. Lotton's signature iridescent spray and put in the annealing oven. They also said that this is a rare and unique piece, which of course makes me very happy. :)

      Alan,

It's about 4.5" tall, and perhaps a smidge wider.
