As I mentioned elsewhere I came across this in a local antique shop. It's one of the décors shown on a Ruckl catalogue page reproduced in Truitt II. It's satin glass and of a good size. The glimpse of blue in image four tells that the black is actually cobalt blue.

Not marked of course, this is the UK after all!

I've not seen much of this glass in Australia - the satin finish combined with spatter is very attractive!

If I remember correctly Ruckl was producing art glass for about two decades, a much shorter period than the other Bohemian companies......which may explain it.

In fact, the 'black' is cobalt blue, very dark and this is visible on the surface in a full light.I've just checked my ball vase .

Hi Ivonne, yes and you can just see that in image four.... Your ball vase is lovely btw !

I'm glad you posted this Peggy as it is similar to mine (in shape) which I am still convinced is Ruckl:

What strikes me about your vase is the polished pontil. Apart from Kralik Tango bowls you hardly see them.......

Phil, I was referring only to Czech Art Deco pieces.

Yes - I understand and agree the pontil and polished rim are unusual, but actually I have a handled Ruckl satin vase in the same décor as yours here and that has a polished pontil and a black 'piped' rim, like you see on Welz pieces - anyway, I'm still pretty sure it's Ruckl.

Forgot to mention - nice piece by the way!

I really love how the satin finish changes the whole aesthetic of glass. This piece is so dramatic; without the sheen the colours seem so much more intense. Wonderful piece Peggy!

Phil, I wasn't suggesting your vase wasn't Ruckl as I have no idea. I was just surprised by the base.
