This is a cast iron tool 4.5 inches long. The round opening is 7/8" with a 1" counterbore. A 1" diameter slug could be set in it and then squeezed with the other side that has a 1/8" protruding pin that would contact the center of the slug. Guesses from the coffee crowd were: nut cracker, button maker, leather punch, etc. Solved by UncleRon! Antique shotgun shell reloader tool
Is the protruding pin drilled and tapped?
I think it may be a vintage or antique lemon/lime squeezer, missing the strainer basket insert, and push ball, like the one below. Just my guess tho.

Thanks Izenglish...The pin is part of the handle casting. One piece and the end is flat. The sixth picture from the top on the right looks like a very possible....

I also think it is close to this one, and your ceramic strainer, and 1/2 round plunger ball is missing. I would think the ceramic parts were designed to be removed for washing. And it would make sense the pin is not hollow and tapped, so as not to require a tool to remove it for cleaning. Again, just my opinion, and more coffee table ammo for you and yours to debate! lol Good Luck!

I have been watching this post......somehow it hits a sour note with me, hehehehe!
It's so small though, maybe for a garlic press, or berry press, but not lemon/lime, and definitely not a potato ricer! :^)
It is a tool to press the new primer into a used shotgun shell when re-loading.
