I got this from a 75 year old woman who was cleaning out her shed. it had been sitting in there for 25 years. it was her grandmothers. I stripped off the canvas and gave it a clear finish and stripped the parchment paper out but left that rough. am trying to find out info about it. the handles are hand forged, was told probably from the 1860's and it has two locks on the front unlike the usual 1 lock in the middle. the hinges are hidden one on the back. I am also trying to find extra 3/4 inch rounded about 1/4 inch across tacks to fill in some missing one.

You have a lovely most probably French made trunk most likely from around 1880's. (could be a little earlier than that) I actually had a smaller red trunk with the same slat clamp design -- one of our contributers had mentioned a possible maker but I deleted the post because I sold it. Any markings on the lock?
