Here is a flower wrapped up with a "bow". Vintage Sterling Silver Brooch with Faceted Blue Rhinestones.
Marked with one of the fairly recognizable marks Harry Iskin used. Since we know his history (listed below) , the age of the brooch would be between 1930 & 1953.
Below is info a Carolyn Davis's article on Harry Iaskin (link to full article: https://www.illusionjewels.com/research/HarryIskinjewelry.html :
In summary, Mr. Iskin's jewelry talents were employed as early as 1917 and that he was a jewelry manufacturer for at least 23 years, from 1930 through 1953. He was based in Philadelphia, with an additional location in New York for a time.
Most of the Iskin jewelry available is gold filled, sterling, or vermeil. Yellow gold was used on the entirety of a piece, with rose gold used as a contrasting accent. A common brooch theme is a floral design, with limited use of glass stones, embellished with any or all of the following: bars or pleats, curlicues, ribbons, and leaves. Some designs are more simple and dainty, while others are more ornate. The brooches range in size from 1 ¼ to 4 inches in height. He also made link bracelets, earrings, and necklaces.
Thanks, Mary. Bonnie has taught me well!! LOL...so many people have helped start to educate me. Ken has played a big role in that too. I know I can count on you as the 'bead Queen' ;)
Thanks Ken, Bonnie, aura, Caperkid, Mary, CindyJune, fortapache, brunswick and TassieDevil for stopping by and the "love"!
