I found this on Craigslist and it was only a couple towns away so I jumped on it. It's a bit rusty in places and the there is a bit of mold on the fabric inside but outside of the usual wear and tear it is in really good condition, the leather handles and straps are even in decent shape. The main issue is that a previous owner pulled the bottom parts of the locks out trying to get into the thing, going to have to deal with that I guess, but I'm thinking I'll clean it up a little and it should be good to go. The only clue to who made it is the S&W Co on the buttons inside and I'm not sure if that was who made the trunk or the buttons. Does anyone have any ideas about that? I didn't really need another trunk to take up space but I've been looking for one of these for some time so I guess I'm going to have to figure out what to do with it, maybe if I get rid of the couch I can free up some room. Gotta love Craigslist.

Lovely dresser trunk -- in my area I hardly ever see any. This one looks great! I buy the rare ones whenever I come across them and figure out what to do with them later. Great find!

Wonderful find.My thought is a Homer Young Dresser trunk around 1904 ( based on the triangular shape of the top) I believe the S&W Co. was a hardware company located in Harrison N.J. that provided many of the fasteners to the manufacturers. I will look for their advertising.
Frank Stallman used more of a square lid for the top, and James longshore had a
completely different dresser trunk patent of his own.

Ok, how lucky can one person be? This one's on my wish list. Great find.
