Unfortunately this this the only photo I have. The interior includes a shelf. There is a photo of a Victorian looking woman on the center, inside the lid.
I know this is very little to go on, but any ideas?
Also if it is older--should I have concerns for lead based paint or metal toxins?
I would say mid to late 1890's give or take a little, trunk has been painted at least once, was never white, cross slat design, patented in 1880, smooth tin between wood slats, probably what they called crystallized tin, my guess would be gold, as gold seemed to be the most popular but it came in other colors, the outer tin was black.
