I purchased this tintype photo at an estate sale. After hours of looking through photos of photos from the 1860's I found a photo of Tom Jones from the Wild Bunch. What do you think?

I have no idea why the photos are sideways but thanks for you comments.

      A great big NO!

The photo itself is the best proof. The revenue tax on photographs was in effect from 1 AUG 1864 through 31 JUL 1866.

A quick search for Tom Jones shows he wasn't born until 3 plus years AFTER this image was taken.

I jpg of the entire image would be nice to see.

Thanks for your response. I will try to post better photos. My phone the web site do not want to communicate. Any suggestions on who it might be?

Trying to attribute to someone is impossible unless you have provenance or find a photo from the same sitting with an accepted attribution.

A jpg of the entire photo MAY provide clues about the subject, but you will be hard pressed to ever identify the subject.

Blue eyes they were. Always striking in greyscale photos.

Hi nice Photo if you’re on your phone going to your settings and hit the edit button and look for where you can spin the picture around you see an arrow that can rotate the picture rotate the picture all the way back I’ll be all the way around to his face and like it should and then hit done then when you post your picture will be straight
