This hand-painted "Fishbowl" was made by Vernon Kilns Pottery in 1940.
They also made an unpainted version appearing in solid colors. The painted one is more desirable to collectors. I have added this window card of the "goldfish" from the movie "Fantasia", since several people inquired if this was "Cleo" on the bowl.
Is that Cleo the goldfish from Pinocchio? Nice bowl!
Hi, Ben, Glad you liked the bowl. I've got almost all of the Vernon Kilns pottery in my collection and I will be posting the rest of it in days to come. It certainly looks like "Cleo" from"Pinocchio", but it's only listed in the Vernon Kilns Archives as a "Goldfish" bowl. The pottery was made for the film "Fantasia" in 1940 and Baby Weems" from "The Reluctant Dragon" in 1941.
Very nice donnadiz! :^D All the Vernon Kilns Pottery! WOW what a collection!
They made so many of the Disney characters, that it probably is "Cleo", what a neat one to have! :^)
Oh, not Cleo but, Walt Disney Fantasia 1940 Vernon Kilns #121 Goldfish Bowl ! :^)
Right, billretirecoll. I hope to put more of the V.K. Collection online in the next few days.
Very nice - this is a piece that isn't seen very often.
You're right, artfoot. And I'm very happy to own one!
