Would like to know more about my trunk

I recently found this trunk while driving home. I couldn't believe anyone would want to throw such a beautiful and old trunk away! The inside is a bit dirty and was filled with mice poop, but I knew it could be cleaned up and make for an awesome piece in my home. I can't find any lables on the inside or outside. The only thing I could find is some letters and numbers on the bottom. I'm a huge history buff and would love to know much more about this trunk! If anyone has any information about this trunk please let me know. Thanks!
