Stopped into a local thrift shop this morning - had not been there in several weeks - and saw this beautiful 925 sterling jewelry keepsake box in the display cabinet. Priced at 3,50 Euro ($4.14). Store staff did not notice the purity mark on the rim due to the dust on it.. They figured hey, no mark on the bottom ( it's completely smooth there) so it's not silver. Having said that, how can anyone NOT see that this is silver? I looked up several of these little boxes and was surprised at the prices. !!! No idea about age.
Lovely shell! Lovely price! Agree with you how not recognise it is silver at first examination! Silly shop keepers :-) and lucky you!
That is a cute little box!!
Wow. Bargain of the year!!
Excellent find. Because the charity shops think they are so savy its nice to see someone getting the edge on them, well done.
@Collectables59 - you're not kidding. Many of them seem to think they are selling antiques and put on stupid prices. Some of the items which ARE valuable also have stupid prices - but TINY ones. Fine by me LOL.
