Old Chinese Qing dynasty ornaments and jewellery were repurposed either by Europeans during 1920's then Chinese during Republic era for export.
These were cheap because the ends of the jadeite were broken and... missing, plus one had lacking parts around two diamonds, showing the back mounting.
France marked gold posts.
1.5cm wide
2.5cm diameter of the finished half loop
Jadeite carving features an upside down bat above a pair of fruits.

I wondered if I could cut the jadeite under the carved part to make them look intact...
Jadeite being a very hard stone, and my tools being non professional, I ended by completing the missing parts with "Jade effect Fimo" polymer clay.
I saw from the enlarged pics that some finish still needed (filing and polishing the tiny irregularities)...
I'll post pics of the kyratisation process in part 2 :-)
Great job, they are lovely.
So very clever Pascale, and I learn so much about jewellery from you!
Jean, thank you! Yet to see if the repair will pass time and wearing... I'll have to be very careful not to sleep with them on :-)
Karen, thanks! What I love with a repair project is to think about the easiest way to get the best result ;-) I'm happy to share informations on jewellery, and glad you take something from it!
Thanks for loving the bats and peaches, Jean, Bonnie, Caperkid, Vetraio, Rose, Karen and Mike!
As I have already looked at part2, I will say again lol.....absolutely amazing, and beautiful transformation:-)
Haha, Judy, part 2 should have been posted as part 1... :-))
Thank you for the kind comment! How about your cat's tail repair?
Same process to use with a grey or white polymer clay :-)
Hi Pascale, still trying to talk myself into making the tail for the cat......need a few hours with no one else home to distract me lol, but I will do it and post whatever the outcome is. It should be a piece of cake compared to your earrings:-) )
they ended in the right hands!!
