Hey all
Well I found this today and initially thought it was a small pottery vase when it was on the shelf, but when I picked it up I realised that it was infact a very, very dirty glass vase. The dark brown layer of dirt on the inside was so thick it showed no light through it at all, but I could see it was glass from the texture on the outside. So I purchased it and took it home, and after lots of cleaning I eventually got it to a state where I could see through it (still a bit dirty but will take some time to get it properly clean). So, it is a milky green opaque glass vase, 13cm high with lovely hand painted detail and gilding. Looks to have some age but not sure of a date at all. The pontil on the base is polished and there are some tiny indentations around the edge near the base which I am assuming is where it was held when being decorated? Not sure.
Basically I know nothing about it, date, what type of glass this is, maker, anything. Whatever you can give me would be great.

Hi Hamish, it may be an antique bohemian, hand painted custard glass vase, it could be English Bristol glass though.
It may be helpful to see the bottom of it, for people to identify it! Good luck! :^)
Thank you billretirecoll for the ideas, something to go on at least! I have posted some more photographs with some more description a few minutes ago so maybe I will get something from that.
