UPDATE: Added photo from a 1925 Loetz catalogue page (found in the back of the Cantz book)

This one followed me home from Baltimore today. 18 cm (about 7") tall, beautiful blue color. The interesting thing about this one is that the "C.a. Loetz" signature is inscribed, rather than raised in relief.

Nice one, signed LOETZ cameo glass is getting tough to find.

Definitely looks like horse chestnut to me, as opposed to edible chestnuts. These are prevalent in Europe and the 'conkers' (seeds) are loved by children for schoolyard games.
I adore this color and find the inscribed signature intriguing. Is the raised relief polished or matte? And, you think - according to the line drawing - that this was produced pre-WWI?
      Fabulous. Thanks for posting.

I would say it's matte. As to the date - it references "orders placed after 1914" - so yes, it's quite possible it was produced pre-WWI. Could also have been made after.

Interesting. A wonderful piece. I can't stop looking at that luminous blue.

I returned to have another look at this luscious vase and have just seen the update with catalogue photo added. Given that the accompanying text describes it as 'new production', does that mean it is post-war production using an earlier shape? I don't have the Cantz book and am now insanely curious what other cameo pieces are in the catalogue...
