Purchased this from an Estate sale 7/12/17 in St.Petersburg, Florida. Looks to have a large Garnet in the middle surrounded by a group of various types of stones in all types of shapes and sizes.The measurements are 3 x 3 in diameter. Art Nouveau? Costume jewelry? Clueless, Yes! Googled this piece and was surprised to find that woman wore elaborate belt buckles in the past.I was amazed to find all the stunning belt buckles! Hoping someone here would recognize the style and the stones on this to give me a time line when this was possibly made or the maker.whoever did design this piece I think the craftsmanship is absolutely gorgeous. Any input on this piece would be greatly Appreciated! Jimmy
Yes, looks like a woman's 'sash buckle'. The stones all appear to be glass & most look 'foiled' on the back. This lets the light bounce back out of them. Genuine translucent gemstones are most often set so light can come through from behind. Some of the costume jewellery regulars would know more about it
