This is a comparative size model sheet from Walt Disney's animated feature "Song of the South," released on November 12, 1946 in Atlanta, GA.
It's a live-action film based on the collection of "Uncle Remus" stories. The film takes place in the south, shortly after the Civil War. The film was controversial and some critics described the film as racist and offensive. The model sheets shows Brer Rabbit, Brer Fox, and Brer Bear. Disney has yet to release a complete version of the film in the US because of the film's controversial reputation. Any artwork from the film is rare and collectible.
You are fortunate to have your collectibles from Song Of The South--For awhile the VHS movie was still available. but harder to find now. I did have a copy years ago but sold it. Now I wish I hadn't. It was nice seeing your items!
Hi, PostCardCollector, I have a VHS copy, in fact, it's a boot-leg copy from England that my husband found for me on ebay. I am very fortunate to have what I do have from this rare and controversial film. Thanks for the post!
In have noted CW seems to have lost a lot of participants lately. I think maybe because it is mostly, glass, pottery and jewelry that is posted. It is a little disappointing that some good things that should be getting attention, are not. I am still aboard with my ephemera/paper items--but the audience for that is down considerably. I am sure it will pick up again soon. These things on your post, should be " buzzing"!
SUGGESTION, go to edit and chaneg your second picture to be the FIRST. You will get more response to that!Lois
