Carte de visite of a man highly dedicated toward his beard!
According to the notation at the bottom it is "8 feet long" and "11 years' growth".
While it does look like he is pushing the 8 feet, I am amazed at the 11 years.
I am SLOWLY trying to match his growth and have reached almost 2.5 feet but it has taken me 6 1/2 years!

And why on Earth would you want your facial hair that long? I see no point in a statement such as it. How long does it take to groom such a thing?
No statement-- just lazy. I don't put much time or effort into it.
I was in the military for 25 years and never liked shaving, so I just "let it go" once I retired.
As an antique photograph dealer, it makes show identification very easy. I cannot tell you the number of times that folks have said they were directed to "the guy with the long beard". Often times all it takes is some contact to sell or buy, so it has enhanced my business.

Doesn't it itch?
I'm the only guy of age in the family who cannot grow a real beard. LOL.
Nope-- no itching.
It is a little dangerous around the oven, stove top and grill, but I am in the habit of tucking it in whenever I do the cooking!

I posted a pic of Scott 4 yrs. ago if you want see it. Nice beard, but I don't think he has forgiven me yet.
Happy to hear about your individual style Scott!
One of my riding friends plaits his so it doesn't get knotty in the wind.
Thanks racer-- I haven't braided mine yet, but I know a lot of folks that do.

That's an amazing beard, the longest I've seen!
Thanks much fran!

Love the beard. My brothers all have long thick beards. One of my brothers is actually a member of a Santa Clause club with his full and long beard. He is a runner so he has to pack a pillow in his jacket during his volunteer time giving presents away to the kids. Once I retire, my beard is going long. I need to stay clean shaven as I work in an industrial setting where I need to don a respirator in case of an emergency. Cool Post!
Thanks much bucket-- appreciate you looking and commenting AND good luck with the beard once you retire!

Need a consensus from the women as to like & don't like beards. I had one for decades, but as I kept it trimmed & shaped, it was more trouble than shaving.
Thanks official and buss.

Do you by chance know how to best protect tintype photos ?
A few basics to follow:
-Keep out of direct sunlight-- over time it will darken the image
-Protect the surface with a sleeve or case to prevent scratching
Tintypes (with the exception of some early Neff patent images) hold up fairly well.

Thanks !
Beautiful photos. You have an amazing collection.
I've recently received a coupel dozen (only a few tintype) in a really old wood photo album (that is unfortunately falling apart). Not exactly sure what to do with them all yet :)
Thanks-- appreciate you looking at my photos.
Post yours on here and you can get some feedback on them!
