This is something I picked up a few years ago at one of my favorite antique malls. It's an old industrial building with no AC just fans for cooling and it waver 100 degrees. That has little to do with the item but there has to be an introduction and this is that.
Graniteware in swirl patterns was popular from the late 1880s until the 1920s. The 1920s started with brass/antique era and ended with the art deco/streamlined era. The plain enamelware solid color took over, mostly white with red trim or cream with green trim. This piece has an older look and sadly rust.
Some items look good with the rust, I think this one does, but it is not usable anymore. Makes quite the stench when water is boiled in it. Perhaps lime-a-way would help but they is a lot of rust in the spout. Still makes a great display piece though.
It's a great shape too
It looks great, very wabi sabi
Nice one fortapache,
I just got a graniteware plate, and small enamelware coffee pot, both were "uugg-ly", but cleaned up nice! I like the way you have them hangin, looks good! :^)
Thank you very much racer4four.
Thank you very much rockbat.
Thank you very much Bill. Will be happy to see yours. They take up less space hanging too.
