The skill required to make a vase like this is beyond my comprehension. Three handles are gathered from the body of the vase and then re-attached near the top, and marvered in such a way as to resemble magnetic flares on the surface of the sun. In a technique that escapes me, this appears to have been done after the oil spot decoration was applied, as the spots are stretched and twisted along the flowing lines of the handles. The silver-yellow and red oil spot surface is highly iridescent, as is the interior of the vase. The ground appears to be a pale yellow (possibly thea?). The decor is possibly a PG 1/473 variant. It has the addition of red spots; they are normally all silver. It is properly signed Loetz Austria within the ground and polished pontil. Enjoy!
