I found this (rather my best picker) 9" tango variation and need some pointers as to the decor. The base is lemon yellow with black and blue dripping down and pink medalians throuout the piece. The iridescence is like a mirror finish and the piece really pops!
Phänomen Genre 2/314 - a bit better than Tango! :)
I have no idea, I love tango and thanx for doing the research- I have the books but no good sitting place too do the research myself- thanks a bunch!!
Beautiful, amazing vase! You also have a good eye for the Tango pieces. Some of the examples similar to yours have been discovered with the oval Czech mark. We show an example with this mark on the site under "Unknown Series III" but it is difficult for me to tell which examples are the later Series III. I know your first impression of this vase was Tango, Series III. After checking out the PG 2/314 examples on the site and comparing these to your new vase, which category would you place your new example? Thanks for your help with this.
Good question. With the overall feel I get a sense that it is from the newer series (a friend suggested they reinterpreted the decor from the original PG2/314 ).

you can make the comparisons yourself. The old version appears to be more free-form except for the Hoffstatter shape. The base glass is semi-opaque instead of my opaque base color (tango). The dripping colored rim is more blue-green with black (peacock) colored while mine is black and indigo. Also Mine is thickly applied - almost dripped on while the earlier version has pull marks in the glass. The balls are pink not blue green and lastly the piece has a flash finish not satin iridescent. I'll have to look for a few of these pieces (with no balls) that have the pull-down drape pattern on tango- in Tango shapes!
Thanks, Jericho. This is very helpful. Pictures don't help as much as having the real thing in your hand! Congratulations again on adding such a great piece to your collection.
You are very welcome and I'm thankful to contributors who showed interest and emailed me, my opinion was informed by them. I would love to do a side by side when I can get a real PG2/314
Ok, I just uploaded photos of your vase and several other examples that meet the description you mentioned to the site. Since we still don't know the name of this decor, I created a new category within the PG 2/314 section entitled "PG 2/314 New Variants". Take a look and let me know what you think:
