The last of my Melrose Savings Bank calendars. This one is is from 1967 and has a Norman Rockwell painting titled "Breakthrough For Freedom". I would have gone for friendship over freedom in this one as they do not seem to be getting over the Berlin Wall. Perhaps that is the pole vault event.
There does seem to be one problem with this painting. The Saudi/Arab scout seems to have been added in after the rest of the painting was done. He is second from the left. He is slightly behind all the other scouts and the front legs of the other scouts all line up. He seems to be out of phase and out of step and out of alignment. Speaking of which the two scouts on the left are out of step.
All calendar pages are missing on this one but there is a small one to the right of the scout oath. It was 1967 possibly the most 1960ish year of the 1960s.
Again the art is astonishing !
