Not the most exciting of vintage clock radios but this one works and it works very well. I have others that work but apparently need an antennae. This one uses the cord as an antennae and picks up station after station although they are all AM stations. Plus the clock works including the second hand. It is missing the knobs for the clock though. I have a feeling there are replacements available.
Almost all the information is in the title, General Electric Model 512F from 1951. Too add to this it is also a tube radio. So far I have not found an on/off switch. Usually the volume switch would double for that. I will figure it out eventually.
According to the site I found for the information on this it is made from modern plastic and not Bakelite. I do like the colors still.

What you need is a small knob at the bottom of the radio dial[6 o'clock position]
You can see on the dial that there are settings for on/off and alarm.
when you have that small knob you can turn on the radio , and I believe that the setting for alarm is ''auto' but I am not positive.
If you don't have the knob, it can be turned by hand, but it hard to trun by hand . Dan in calgary

Thank you very much Dan. That knob stub is very hard to turn in fact I can't turn it with needle nose pliers. I'll give it another try tomorrow. Loos like it really wants its knob.

Nice radio. I would have guessed it was bakelite had you not said it was plastic.

Thank you very much elanski. Looks like Bakelite to me too.

You may find that you will have to remove the chassis from the cabinet and see why it is not turning. You don't want to break it. Possible a little contact cleaner or a drop of oil, might do the trick. it is not part of the actual radio; it is a switch for the power.
