I picked this up at a garage sale because I thought it looked cool.
It's two sided. Does anyone know something about this piece? I would love know more about it.

It could be from the early Egyptian Revival from the mid 1800s, but just a guess. What a great piece though! :^)

The casting is very crude, so it has no value, more recent, if it was revival it would have been better quality.
Any idea how to find out about this piece without having it appraised? There are no markings to go by.
Phil is correct that the piece would have little monetary value. Nonetheless, it has interest in its own right. The image of a pharaoh fighting from a chariot drawn by caparisoned war horses is a popular one on silver brooches & bracelets made in Egypt as tourist souvenirs & I considered whether this might have been made in Egypt, but decided not, based on a number of factors. The figure on the other side (Osiris?) is not a conventional one for either Egyptian-inspired or Egyptian jewelry made for the tourist market. This is what I find interesting: the designer has chosen an image that is not a stock one, not one well known in the West. My knowledge is too limited to understand all the symbolism, something you might have fun researching.
Egyptian themed jewelry had a revival in the 1960s & 70s when the treasures from Tutankhamen's tomb were touring the US, & even some guys were wearing necklaces if they looked more like military decorations on long chains (the necklaces, not the guys). This may well date to that period. :)

My first thought had been scales, but...? He is wearing the crown of Upper Egypt. Occurs to me that he may be standing on the boat that takes souls to the afterlife. I'm reaching, but see, e.g.:

You have been a big help, thank you so much. At first I thought they were scales. I think this piece is very cool, but it is eluding me. I've looked at drawings of different Egyptian gods and can't find one that looks like mine. I am determined to figure it out.
A lot of symbols are also not verbatim. Some are just made up, so finding exact one is a problem since it may not exist.
