My husband inherited this clock from his mother who passed away several years ago. My mother-in-law supposedly inherited it from her father who was big-wig with Woolworth back in the 50's. We were told it was a promotional item given to her father. Can anyone tell me anything about this clock?

It's a 1920's-30's coca cola advertising clock. It's missing the red lettering on the clock face

Can you tell me how to tell if it's authenic or not and the value? Thank you for your comment.

It is definatly authentic, no doubt about that. It's crude lettering is a dead givaway. I think the value should be around 300-400 dollars, more or less. The mint price is 1600, but your is in a little less good shape, cause the red lettering on the face faded away.

It was also made by the Wm. L. Gilbert Clock Co. of winsted conn.

These clocks were made by Gilbert from the 20's up until the 1941 when it was discontinued on April 10 of that year. The face would have said Drink Coca-Cola, but it has probably faded completely away. Fading is very common on these clock faces. The bottom glass looks original. It was originally applied in a fairly rough and sloppy manner and should look a little crude. If all the edges are too smooth it is probably fake. Fake bottoms are easy to come by, as are fake faces. One has to be very careful when buying one of these clocks. In great shape, these barely top a thousand dollars on a good day. Allan's book price is way off.

This clock should be worth about 500 in this condition.

I have this identical clock. My husband too inherited it from his family and it was a promotional clock they had at their car dealership. The drink Coca Cola is still visible on the face but very faded also. I got it to run but my problem is that it runs slow. Any suggestions on how to adjust this?? I just love it and we have very few family heirlooms from my husband's family so I would love to do what I can for it--I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.
