Really liking this one, bonus with the 5 adjusted positions.

roddyq, thanks for the comment. Most of them I see are marked 6 positions.

Do you restore these watches or acquire them in working, refinished condition?
    9. pw-collector pw-collector, 7 years ago
pajrr, no I do not work on my watches. When I was younger, many, many years ago, my uncle offered to teach me how to service, make parts, etc. on pocket watches & clocks, but being young and knowing everything I needed to know, that would get me through life, I opted to decline his offer. The most "stupid" mistake I ever made. He, now being gone for many years, and going through two more elderly watch makers working on my watches, now I just look for ones in working order.

I have a friend in another country who rebuilds and restores. He has some incredibly beautiful examples.

Hi pw-collector ... I lurk on several watch forums and learned this face design might be called a "Boxcar style." Here's a forum comment: "Webb C. Ball’s official standard railroad dial of 1925 was referred to as the Boxcar style. It was characterized by plain, thick, sans serif hour numerals, which were as easy to read as it gets. And not only Ball offered the style: it was also available from Waltham, Elgin, and Hamilton. These were obviously popular with railroad employees." Your pocket watch appears to predate Webb's Boxcar style. I knew I liked this watch for a reason.
