Incredible subject for a jewel....
Novelty pieces from 1870's depicted some strange creatures you wouldn't think of for feminine adornment...
Lizards, bats, frogs, insects, monkeys, turtles...
Which woman could wear a PRAWN?! (Beside me, of course!)
5cm long by 1.6cm wide.
Boar's head hallmark and illegible French maker's mark on the C clasp.
Very detailed, even on back!
I bought it from France, the seller thoroughly cleaned it before sending, silver was awfully bright making the paste stones look dull :-/
Several months later, after some match's smoke under it, some soft brushings with a soft brush blackened from previous old silver polishing and weeks staying in my bathroom near oxydised silver, it begin to get some patina...
PLEASE, SELLERS, DON'T CLEAN, LEAVE IT TO THE BUYER!

Oh how fantastic! I love this shrawn primp brooch, it is amazing! Glad that women of earlier eras had imagination and style when it came to jewels. One thing, I would like to see the earlier bright version, can you share the photo? :)
