No clue where it came from, who made it, or how old it really is. (no markings to be found anywhere I've looked?) Guessing it likely isn't actually anything "special" in any way either, for that matter. Still I like it, both because I like horses and because it actually *does* have a perfectly lovely and clear 'ring tone' to it too. Bells are GOOD things!!
:-) :-) :-)
Pictured where I just attached it to a post on the porch outside my door, its mounting bracket measures about 6" long and the bell itself is roughly 2" x 2". According to the instrument tuner app on my phone, it plays approximately A-sharp/B-flat 7. (which equates to one of the topmost 'black notes' on a piano keyboard)
It was similarly mounted to a post on Mom and Dad's back patio at the farm. After that whole 2wk long affair with their sale/move/etc -- during which time it remained there being totally ignored by anybody wanting to either keep it, sell it, donate it, or anything else -- I unscrewed it from that post and tossed it into one of my last boxes to be loaded into the rent-a-trailer. ;-)
[and I have absolutely NO idea what would be the most proper category to post this item in, so I picked a couple that seemed likely...??]
