Hello everyone.
A recent purchase for $20.00.
This ring is a bit of a mystery and I love it!
Research tells me the setting is called a buttercup or belcher or even pie crust!
The stone is a solid mint green colour "bullet"cabochon I believe but I have no idea what type of stone it is or a time frame for this style ring.
This ring although unmarked silver seems to be very solid and well made too.
The seller did not have anything to offer in the description that would have been helpful!
I have not cleaned it:-)
It is such a lovely ring, fits my ring finger and is very comfortable to wear.
Any thoughts and comments would be much appreciated.
Thanks, Judy
Wow, what a find Judy. I love the design of this, strong and stylish. It looks like it has some age too.
Do you think it may be a nephrite jade? Sorry, I have no idea, just guessing because I can....
Thanks Karen, I seem to be on a roll at the moment, starting with the blue a&c ring, then this green one sold with another a&c ring (not posted yet) and then the a&c operculum pendant!! Thought all my Christmases had come at once lol:-)
Just guessing I was tossing up between Jade or Agate.......probably wrong on both counts lol!!
Hey Judy, that's great to find all these! 20th century I think. Around 1930.
These high cabochons are called sugarloaf, yummm ;-)
For the stone, I'll bet on turquoise, they come in very different tones, not only the wellknown Persian blue!
Thanks Pascale, yes all found only 1 day apart and all in Aus!! Will never happen again I'm sure lol.
1930s or thereabouts is great thanks!! Hmm sugarloaf!! I had forgotten Bonnie posted a bracelet with red ones of these some time ago.
Mint green turquoise sounds good and I looked them up, but I did see a similar stone called amazonite .......what do you think? They are both nice :-)
Thanks for your help Pascale, I do sincerely appreciate it :-)
I will mark out as Solved for you now, and probably post the other arts and crafts ring tonight and it has a really different stone too lol! Thanks again.
Thanks very much to all 13 lovers of this ring, it is always very much appreciated :-) )
Lucky Judy!
Thanks for the thanks, it is always a pleasure to see your pieces :-D
Amazonite usually has kind of flecked pattern in it, but can occur in more uniform color, I can't say without having in hand ;-)))
