Hello I have found this ring and it's very unusual so I thought I would post it as someone might know more. It reminds me of a helmet for some reason.

830 silver is not used everywhere. This tells you where it is: http://www.925-1000.com/a_Standards.html

That's what I come to think of as well, a helmet. Inspired by the Vendel period or Viking age, scandinavian or Baltic sea region.

Thanks cameo ,Olof . Great ink cameo I checked and there was a few interesting choices, I think the clue is the little head figure beside to the left of the numbers.

There are 3 clues: the head; the 830 grade silver, which is not used everywhere; & the shape of the 'cartouche', the box the mark is in.

In researching your marks, was interested to see that between 1766 & 1820 Norway used the symbols for signs of the zodiac as assay marks. So New Age!

Thanks cameo, I did spot the Norway link, and was wondering if that would mean this could be Norwegian due to the fact it's a Viking helmet, well looks like.

Not sure you can rely quite so much on your perception of it as a Viking helmet; when I first saw it I thought it looked like a colander (strainer). However, a lot of jewllery from Nordic countries seems to be silver in modernist designs, so reasonable to start research in that direction.

A fourth clue is that the mark is on the outside where it is visible. My thoughts turned first to the USSR because they put marks on the outside. A clue to age is the silver content that is below 925. These days, most countries that once settled for lower grades are now using sterling. Style tells you it is fairly modern, 830 silver tells you it is not so new. :)
