This chair is my son's. He got it from a lady that he did some remodeling for. She gave him this one and also another one just like it but without the seat. I would love to know what era this piece was made, who the manufacturer was, and also the style of furniture it was. Also, would love to know anything else about this chair that you know. Thank You
At the top of the back are some elements of Eastlake style, however there are also traditional styles added which is common. Most furniture makers took the design and made their own version of a style. Appears to be a nice chair. Probably is around 1910, but manufacturers were making traditonal designs up to the 50's and later so not able to tell exactly without seeing it in person. A manufacturer would be impossible to find unless you had a label or stamp. Thousands of manufacturers left no records when the business folded. In Canada alone there were hundreds alone in Ontario. Have some names but there are no records of the business left behind.
Thank you soooo much for your information. I am not into vintage or antiques but my mother died recently and my aunt has been moved to assisted living so in the past few years I have developed an interest in getting background information on the things I have acquired. I do have additional pictures, one of which is a stamp under the seat which I would guess is a manufacturers name and maybe other info. I am willing to send the additional photos to you if you would tell me where to send them. Thank you. Peggy
I think I put the picture on, let me know if you can see the pic of the information stenciled under the seat. Peggy
I think I was a bit harsh and basing my opinion on first glanced view. It is more of a pure eastlake style with little variation from norm. It is possible that it is from the eastlake revival style which was strong in around 1870's to 1900.
Unfortunately I see no stencil -- what does the stencil say or read ??

It appears the pic I put on was upside down and appeared next to my username of "Larrystable" . I an only tell you on the top line of the stencil the letters look like it says HLRCNDLN.TU The second line definitely says CLEVELAND, OH Hope this is a help to you. And once again, thank you for your help. Peggy
