    I believe this is soapstone I do know it is stone of some sort for sure carved antique purchased at the goodwill for a few bucks has minor issue hinge has come undone but can be easily repaired.

      I have never, ever, seen such a thing here in Australia! Perhaps it was made in Asia and sold here in the tourist stores (which I admit I never visit). I quite like it! The 'roos are well modeled.

      Appears to be an Australian version of the material called 'Incolay' or 'Incolay Stone'. Incolay was the original, but there were a number of imitators. Although Incolay did make many boxes, jewllery & trinket, some of them blue, this is not theirs.
