My Dad's Old Throne Chairs

My Dad, single for much of his life, loved to go antique shopping in the latter half of the 1960's and early 1970's. When I was young he'd take me with him on the weekends he had me and I'd wander the stores and listen while he chatted with owners about different pieces. He frequented stores on Ventura Boulevard in Studio City, CA and one, owned by a man named Al Unger, was on Wilshire Boulevard in Santa Monica, CA.

The chair I've posted is one of two and I believe they were acquired from Unger's in the late 60's. Long lost is the receipt that might have descriptive information. My Dad's memory was that he was told they were Victorian throne chairs. They had a rotted tapestry on them and I had them reupholstered about 10 years ago to be a part of the dining room. I wish I'd covered them in fabric more period appropriate but it seemed like a good idea at the time...

They are very ornate and heavy. The very top of the chair (bird's wing) stands 50 1/2"h and they are 26"w. The arm rests stand at 26"h (the top of the beast's heads - -some type of lion?)

I'd love, and really appreciate, any information at all about how old they might be (I think late 1800's) and what part of the world they might have come from(possibly England?).
