The more I have a chance to actually look at this nifty little end table -- the more I remain firmly convinced it was WELL WORTH the extra trip around the block in an unfamiliar 'hood to stop for a moment and snatch the sucker up into the back of my truck?!! [after all, opportunities like this are *exactly* why I drive a pickup truck...?] ;-) :-) If only there'd have been *two* of 'em sitting there?!! <lol>
Its original "blonde oak" finish is now well-thrashed (including what appears to be a dusting of copper colored spray paint across the drawerfront?) but it is otherwise in relatively excellent condition, still perfectly sound and sturdy (heavy, for its size!) in its construction. It appears to have been very well (factory) built of high quality material, now showing little to no actual irrecoverable damage to (or worse yet missing bits of) its veneered surfaces or edges, including nicely done 'banding' in the veneer around its top. The only mark I can find anywhere on it is the number "9623" on the underside of its original brass drawer pull.
Gotta guess 1950's "mid-century modern" for this one (how could one not?) but beyond that I know absolutely nothing about it. (nor, a whole lot about MCM furniture in general, for that matter)
Does anybody else here in CW-land recognize anything about it that might be interesting to know? I've (again) gotta guess that it wasn't made 'alone', so I'm now hoping its rather distinctive design might suggest something to somebody else more knowledgeable than myself.
For the record, I've never really been a fan of "blonde oak", so will most likely refinish it in a somewhat darker color...thinking it'd be very pretty in 'golden oak' if that'll sufficiently help mask a couple smallish cigarette burns on its top, but for that reason might have to go a little darker instead...we'll see... :-)

I'm STILL searching for ANY info about this table however -- since posting this I've looked at pages upon pages of pics of MCM furniture and haven't yet found a *single* thing that looks anything like it...??? One of my co-workers even commented that he'd love to see any other pieces that might have matched it -- needless to say I WOULD TOO??!!
Or am I guesstimating its age totally wrong...another coworker mentioned that he though it looked "1970's". Given the blonde finish I still tend to think otherwise, but...??
And in the meanwhiles a quick rubdown with lacquer thinner removed most of that 'copper spray paint' mess that somebody did unto it, though doing nothing to improve the remains of original blonde underneath. Also good news upon further examination, most of the cig-burn damage is indeed to edges which appear to be made of solid wood (vs. veneer work) increasing the likelihood that they'll ultimately be able to "go away" successfully. :-)
I too found one and there are manufacturer tags (some partial) on the underside that will aid in identification. Mine is currently in storage so I can't provide you with immediate feedback. Email me to follow-up and we can post results as soon as we have them! Cheers,
