I bought this shade, despite the loss of paint in places, because it is marked TCHECOSLOVAQUIE, and thus another proven style of lampshade scenery. But for that I would have guessed it to be French.

The style of the painting, which is on the inside, is softer, almost fuzzy, yet the overall effect is similar to the green one I posted earlier.

Is that the French spelling? Does that mean those clever Czechs deliberately made French style to sell in France - good marketing they had.

It is French spelling, but I've bought more there without a provenance mark than with a provenance mark. You rarely see Czech marks on French ebay either......

This is most likely a product of the Franz Tomschick glassworks (Kostany - Kamenny Pahorek). The so-called "Spritzdekor" was popular in the 1930s. Several drawing books with these decors are in the depository of the Regional Museum in Teplice.

Thank you, Ales. So what I called fuzzy is correctly called 'Spritzdekor'. It must be exciting to live within the reach of such archives.
